When planning this Mommy and Me photoshoot, my client told me she loved the Black is King visual album and wanted it to be the theme. I was elated! First of all, I enjoyed this visual album so much. The vibrant colors, the cultures, the choreography, the cinematography, and of course, Beyonce. One of my favorite scenes was Beyonce on the beach holding a baby, which could be perceived as her son. The scene felt so serene and intimate. It looked like the world revolved around Mom and her beautiful baby at that moment. We wanted the same feel for this photoshoot.
Other details that came together to make this photoshoot special are the location, the colors my client wore, and her jewelry. My client is of the beautiful Gullah culture, which made it only right to have the photoshoot on a beautiful beach in Charleston to signify her roots. We chose Isle of Palms Beach for the location. My client wanted to wear royal blue and gold representing the sorority she is a member of, Sigma Gamma Rho. Royal blue is also her favorite color. Lastly, her bold gold jewelry, the Ndebele choker necklace, and bangle were the perfect touch to complete her look.
I love traveling for photoshoots! This one was particularly exciting because Charleston has some of the best food in the US. We took photos in two locations, Rainbow Row and Isle of Palms. For the purpose of today’s blog, I am referring to the beach location only. After finishing the first set of pictures, we rushed over to the beach. Traffic and parking was an obstacle. The sun was setting soon, so I had to set up fast. We had about 20 minutes to get the shots we wanted and they turned out gorgeous. Here are more photos from this regal mommy and me photoshoot.
